Getting started with Honedly
Your first week — set goals, log a meal, install the app, optionally connect a wearable.
What Honedly does
Honedly is a high-protein meal and fitness tracker with an optional AI coach. You log meals, workouts, and weight; the app surfaces what's working in your week and what to change. The whole tracker is free; Pro and Pro+ add the AI.
Your first week
- Sign up + onboarding. Register at /register and step through the onboarding wizard — sex, height, age, activity level, primary goal (lose / maintain / gain), and the rate. Honedly does the BMR + TDEE math and proposes your starting calorie + protein targets. You can override the goals if you have a target in mind.
- Confirm your timezone. The onboarding picks an IANA timezone from your browser; your streaks, daily rollovers, and coach features all use this. Edit later from Profile if it's wrong.
- Log your first meal. From the dashboard, tap Log meal. Free options: search the food database (USDA + curated chain restaurants), scan a barcode, or pick from your recipe library. Pro adds: snap a photo, dictate a sentence (“3 eggs and a protein shake”), import a recipe URL, scan a nutrition label, or scan a grocery receipt to fill your pantry.
- Set a workout. Either subscribe to a built-in program (PPL, 5/3/1, Upper/Lower, etc.) from /programs and your dashboard will show today's session, or just log workouts ad-hoc as you train.
- Install the PWA. Honedly works in the browser but is meant to feel like a native app. On iOS Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android Chrome, tap the install prompt that appears after a couple of visits (or use the ⋮ menu → Install app). After installing, push notifications work and the app launches full-screen with no browser chrome.
- Optionally connect a wearable. From Settings → Integrations you can connect Fitbit, Whoop, Oura, Strava, Withings, Garmin, or Apple Health to pull in sleep, HRV, recovery, and workouts. See Connecting wearables for the per-vendor walkthrough.
- After a week, read your first Coach insight. Visit /coach. Free users see last week's insight; Pro generates a new one on demand. Pro+ also gets the daily morning brief on the dashboard.
Tips for getting accurate data fast
- Weigh in at the same time daily (e.g. first thing in the morning, post-bathroom, pre-coffee). The Adaptive TDEE refit on Pro+ uses a 28-day rolling trend — daily weights make that lean cleaner.
- Log meals as you eat them, not at end of day. Five 1-minute logs are better-recalled than one 10-minute one.
- Hit protein first. The Honedly default is 1g per pound of bodyweight; if you hit that, the rest of the macros tend to fall into place.
- Don't miss every day. Streak freezes (free) auto-cover one missed day per perfect week, so the loop survives a busy Tuesday.
